Beginner Rubik’s notation: F R U L D B
Each letter is a face. Hold Red in front (F) and White down (D) while you learn — the same grip as the Beginner path.
1. Six faces
| Letter | Face |
|---|---|
| F | Front |
| R | Right |
| U | Up |
| L | Left |
| D | Down |
| B | Back |
2. Prime and 2
R turns the right face 90° clockwise as you look at it. R' is the opposite. R2 is 180°. An alg like R U R' U' (sexy move) is just those four turns.
WCA scrambles use the same letters — see WCA scramble notation when you practice Cross/F2L.
